January 29, 2010 Living Into God's Design

Once again tonight I am reminded of the fact that God has designed each of us individually. Am I living into the person He has designed me to be? .

January 28, 2010 Snow Is In The Forecast

What do you do when snow is in the forecast. Why you go to the grocery store of course. They are forecasting big snow for the weekend. I didn't want to be in the store with the rest of the town tomorrow so I went tonight. After handbell practice I headed to the store for staples - you know diet coke and stuff.

January 27, 2010 Step By Step

Stairs are climbed step by step. Isn't that so true. The only way to reach the top is to start on the fist step and keep on climbing

I worked in a different office today. This is a lovely old building which houses one of our offices.

January 26.2010

So this is the control panel on the driver's side of the van. The driver's window works when it wants to and other times it just doesn't. So far in 2010 it has worked every single time I have tried. And I have to lower it everytime I go into the parking deck at work. It's always a risk lowering it in case it gets stuck but it never has. Well there have been a few times where you have to push the button while you're closing the door to get it to work. But usually if it's not going to work then it won't go down.

We really have looked into getting it fixed. They would have to take the door panel off to see if it is the motor or the switch so we haven't decided to do that yet.

But hey, it's paid for!

January 25, 2010 Clip-Ons

My CG in her new clip-on earrings.

I haven't worn earrings in probably 20 years. I have been contemplating getting my ears pierced again after letting them close many years ago. Today I had an hour to wander the mall between appointments. I walked by the earring place, paused briefly, then decided no.

So instead I went into the Macy's and looked at clip-on earrings. I think I have purchased one pair of clip-on earrings in my life. I bought 2 inexpensive pair.

When I got home CG wanted some clip-ons. Since they were out of school today we went back to the mall. We found some teenagery clip-ons at Clarie's. I was surprised.

Anyway I'm throwing myself into clip-ons - well as much as one can throw themselves into clip-ons. I've been googling how to convert pierced earrings into clip-ons.

Ah - a new adventure.

January 24, 2010 Save The Dogwood

This tree is part of our new little grove of trees in the front side yard of the house. This particular little tree is a beautiful pink dogwood that was moved from the front of the church. It was put in one spot and then had to be moved again. We're hoping it hasn't suffered from being uprooted twice.

Many many many Easter pictures have been taken in front of this tree in previous years. I hope this spring the flowers will be as beautiful as ever. .

January 23, 2010 Big House In The Little Woods

With the new construction at church, the site plan called for these trees that are now between the new building and the parsonage. It looks like our own little forest. Well ok maybe it really doesn't qualify as a forest but it sure has changed the look of the front and side yard.

When I was taking this picture I thought of Laura Ingalls Wilder's book Little House In The Big Woods, hence the title.

January 22, 2010 Prayer Shawl

I love the colors and I love the love that when into making it and the blessings that were said over it by people that at the time didn't even know who it was going to. The Prayer Shawl Ministry group and made shawls that have gone all across the globe and others that have stayed within our own community.

January 21, 2010 Rainy Days

We've had alot of rainy days lately. Since November it seems we have had more rain than normal. We even had some snow in December. More rain is in the forecast for this weekend.

A cold rainy day just makes you want to wrap up in a blanket and watch a good movie. Oh yeah that is what I did today.

January 20, 2010 Growing older, wiser and TALLER!

I took Daniel in for a checkup today. He has grown 6 1/2 inches in 13 months. No wonder it seemed like every time I blinked last year he was needing new jeans.

January 19, 2010 A Year Later

One year ago today I received the phone call that you never want to hear. But now a year later 2 of the most precious words when said together are - cancer free. I can choose to either dwell on the events of the past or look forward to the future with hope and anticipation. I'm chosing the future by the Grace of God.

When I was trying to decide what to title this picture, my first thought was 1 year ago but that seemed to me to be looking back and that's not what I want. A Year Later to me sounds much better. We're moving on!

The bear's name is Cocoa. Some of my peeps from work sent Cocoa to me during radiation.

January 18, 2010 Chores

If I were to write the story of my life, I think every other page would be about laundry. A family of 5 creates alot of laundry.

Tonight as I was taking this picture Daniel walked in and asked, "Mom, are you really taking a picture of laundry?" When I answered yes he came over and gave me a hug as if to say, "You poor woman you really have a boring life."

January 15, 2010 Numbers!! Numbers!! Everywhere!!

I spend a good part of my day working with numbers. It's either balancing this report or that report, calculating income and tenant rent, calculating refunds, calculating in my head the total my grocery items are going to be, balancing my checkbook and such. I like numbers because they always work. 2 + 2 is always 4, you don't have to worry about i before e except after c or anything of those rule breakers!

I also chose this pic for the day because it's the only pic I took all day. So you gotta make it work for you!

January 14, 2010 Our Hearts Hurt For The People of Haiti

The people of Haiti have captured the hearts of the world after such a devastating earthquake. The amount of destruction is overwhelming and the faces of the people is heartbreaking. May the people of Haiti feel the embrace of the whole world in their time of such enormous loss.

January 11, 2010 Is It Habit Forming

Dr. says I need to drink more water. But I don't like water. How long will it take to become a habit? Do I just give up my diet coke cold turkey? Oh my!

January 10, 2010 Cherries!!

Mmmm I love cherries. I've been known to say, "Oh I love cherries, they're my favorite," only to say a day or so later, "Oh I love blackberries they're my favorite." I'm on a mission to determine my favorite fruit, I don't think I'll ever get the answer though.

January 6, 2010 My Diamond Collection

I thought I was being smart telling Jay I collect diamonds when he asked me what I want for Christmas. I got a "diamond ring" ornament for Christmas that says "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend." What a sense of humor!

January 3, 2010 Bonita the First

Bonita the First

This pen is affectionately named Bonita the First. How did she get her name you ask, and I know you did. Well during football season among our family, at least 4 of us anway, each weekend we pick who is going to win each NFL game. Then the person who picks the most correct wins for the week. Each weeks total correct goes into the final score for the season. Dad and Daniel accuse me of being a Cheater Bonita because I consult the ESPN expert picks. I call it doing my homework. Somehow in all of that Bonita got her name. During the Christmas season we also got some similar Christmas pens, so Bonita became Bonita the First and the others are Red Bonita or Green Bonita.

My Kitchen

One of my resolutions for 2010 is to become more organized. A goal for this first week of the year is to be sure that the kitchen countertop, island and sink are cleaned and free of clutter before going to bed. Baby steps here!

January 1, 2010 Cracked Open

We've cracked open a New Year

Happy 2010! We've cracked open a New Year. I wasn't sad to bid farewell to 2009. It had it's challenges but many blessings too. I have great expectations for 2010.

I wonder what is in store for this new year. It's like a blank slate ready to be written upon. Ready to be lived to the fullest. I've got lots of hopes and dreams for this year. Of course they involve your typical New Year's resolutions - you know get better organized, lose weight, eat healthy, exercise, declutter, save and the list goes on and on. But most importantly to truly live!!

May this year be filled with joy, happiness and health.

Day 1 of 365

Project 365 in 2010

So this is the project for 2010. 1 picture posted to this blog each day. I will do it.
